Although we receive quite a few questions & inquiries about Movie Cameras, Prices and Movie Camera web sites we do not appraise Movie Cameras, Projectors, etc. For identification purposes we have learned of a fairly large Movie Camera Collection at the following web site:

http://communication.ucsd.edu/bjones/Moviecam/CineCollection/index.html

This collection, although recently sold, was originally owned and managed by a Mr. Neil Prince of San Diego, CA. It is a good site for identifying movie cameras. The collection has a lot of close-up images of movie cameras produced in the 40's, 50's and 60's. It is an extensive list but there are no prices or convenient search capability.

There are also several collector books on Movie Cameras. One is 'The Collectors Guide to Cine Cameras. Lots of photos but no prices. There is also the impressive German book 'Movie Cameras' by Jurgen Lossau. It is called the definitive guide and I would have to agree but it is way too expensive to research just one camera. It is well done with excellent photos & English text with prices in US dollars.

The best, cheapest and quickest way to get a general idea of prices on Movie Cameras is to search the movie camera section on auction sites like Ebay, Yahoo or see if your public library has one of above titles. Also check our Camera Links page for Movie Camera web sites.
